Lab Results & Certificates of Analysis
Transparency is how we decide what goes on the shelf at Purely Found, not a step we add on at the end. If you're looking at a mushroom blend, Amanita muscaria, kava, kanna, or blue lotus, you should be able to see what's in the package before you buy it.
What a lab result is
A lab result, often called a Certificate of Analysis (COA), is a report from an independent, third-party laboratory that has tested a finished product. What it covers depends on the product and the lab. A COA may confirm the identity of the plant or mushroom, measure the levels of key compounds, and screen for contaminants such as heavy metals, pesticides, or microbial growth. In plain terms, it's a way of checking that the label matches what's actually inside.
Where to find them
Where available, third-party lab results for products from Asheville Dispensary, Dreamer Shrooms, Kats Botanicals, Road Trip, Root of Happiness, and SOHI are posted on each product page as a PDF you can view or download. If a product you're considering doesn't have one, ask us. We'll tell you what we have and what we don't. And if a product's testing or safety record is thin, we'd rather leave a gap on the shelf than sell it.
How to read one
Every lab formats its reports a little differently, but a few things are worth checking every time:
- Batch or lot number. Match it to the number printed on your package. That way you know the result applies to what you're holding and not an earlier run.
- Test date. More recent is generally better.
- Identity and potency. This section confirms the product is what it claims to be and lists the measured levels of relevant compounds. Compare these to the label.
- Contaminant screening. Look for "pass," "within limits," or "ND" (not detected) next to heavy metals, pesticides, solvents, and microbes.
- The lab's name. Reputable labs put their name, location, and accreditation on the report.
One caveat worth being honest about: a lab result tells you what's in a product. It can't tell you how that product will feel for you. Botanicals affect people differently, and the research on many of these plants is still developing. Start gently, pay attention to your own experience, and consume responsibly.
